We are leaving X - to fight back stronger. Since Musk took over Twitter (now X), the social media platform has become a breeding ground for hate, disinformation, and election interference. [1]
Before the recent German elections, Musk openly defended Germany’s far-right party AfD while his platform boosted their reach, proving once again how X is interfering and fueling extremism. [2]
That’s why we took action.
Together, we flooded the European Commission with over 1,100 emails, demanding they enforce EU laws against X. Thousands of us spoke out, making it impossible to ignore the danger that Musk represents.
We pushed the EU to act, but while they hesitate and drag their feet, we are moving forward.
WeMove Europe is leaving X. We refuse to be complicit in the spread of extremism and disinformation. Instead, we’re joining a growing movement of people and organisations on Bluesky—a space where real conversations and impactful activism can thrive. Let’s keep pushing for change and fighting for our democracy—together.
WeMove Europe exists to amplify your voice and drive change across Europe. But to do that, we need to use the right platforms.
After Elon Musk bought, reshaped, and renamed Twitter, it became harder to campaign there effectively. We stayed because it helped reach decision-makers. But now, X is no longer the tool it once was, and it no longer aligns with our values.
That’s why we’re moving to Bluesky. We’re rebuilding and finding new ways to campaign. It’s a bold step, but a necessary one.
We need you with us - this transition can only succeed if you join us. Our movement is built by people like you, and without your voice, we won’t have the power to shape this new space. Join us on Bluesky, help us keep up the pressure, amplify our campaigns, and push for real change.
